Description
collection concerns mainly plants, within the family, with medicinal properties or used in traditional medicine, but it does not exclude other sympatric species.
This database was extracted from the four collections of reference specimens on medicinal plants deposited at the CNARP herbarium: http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medicinal_plants_orstom_cnarp&v=1.0, http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medecinal_plants_cnarp&v=1.0, http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medecinal_plants_nci_cnarp&v=1.0 and http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medecinal_plants_icbg_cnarp&v=1.1
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 636 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data
The digitization of the reference specimens of medicinal plants conserved at the CNARP herbarium was initiated during SEP-CEPDEC 1, tne BID program allowed to continuing the digitization of some threatend and invasive species. Title | Mobilization of reference specimens data on the Asteraceae family, owned by CNARP, for conservation, sustainable use and decision making in Madagascar |
---|---|
Identifier | BID-AF2015-0066-REG |
Funding | The digitization of this family has been possible thanks to an European Union funding through the BID program coordinated by GBIF. |
Study Area Description | Invasive alien species and endangered species were the two firsts of the 8 priority areas defined by the ACM in its WP 2015-2016. In this regard, the consortium retained 8 families of each category for the project. The Asteraceae family was chosen by the consortium as one of the priority family of invasive species. |

Sampling Methods
All of the Asteraceae family specimens from the herbarium were digitized. These specimens were collected from the Malagasy territory. The collection includes mainly medicinal plants but are not exclusively so.
Study Extent | The digitization program concerns all specimens of the targeted families owned by CNARP |
---|---|
Quality Control | Before publishing, the nomenclature was checked and updated with Catalogue of life, Tropicos database and/or IPNI, we used the OpenRefine tool as well to clean the data |
