Description
This database was extracted from the four collections of reference specimens on medicinal plants deposited at the CNARP herbarium: http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medicinal_plants_orstom_cnarp&v=1.0, http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medecinal_plants_cnarp&v=1.0, http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medecinal_plants_nci_cnarp&v=1.0 and http://ipt.madbif.mg/resource?r=medecinal_plants_icbg_cnarp&v=1.1
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 162 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data
The digitization of the reference specimens of medicinal plants conserved at the CNARP herbarium was initiated during SEP-CEPDEC 1, the BID program allowed to continuing the digitization of some threatened and invasive species. (https://www.gbif.org/project/82750/capacity-building-and-biodiversity-data-mobilization-for-conservation-and-policy-in-africa). The digitization in itself was carried out by CNARP team and data cleaning, further georeferencing, formating and publishing were assured by MadBIF team
Title | Mobilization of reference specimens data on the Sapotaceae family owned by CNARP for conservation, sustainable use and decision making in Madagascar |
---|---|
Identifier | BID-AF2015-0066-REG |
Funding | The project is funded by the European Union through the BID program coordinated by GBIF. |
Study Area Description | Invasives alien species and endangered species were the two firsts of the 8 priority areas defined by the ACM in its WP 2015-2016. In this regard, the consortium retained 8 families of each category for the project. the Sapotaceae family was one of the endangered priority family |
Design Description | Digitization of the information from the label of the specimen |

Sampling Methods
All of the Sapotaceae familiy specimens from the herbarium were digitized. Those specimens were collected from the Malagasy territory
Study Extent | The digitization program concerns all specimens of the targeted families owned by CNARP. Those specimens were collected from the Malagasy territory |

Quality Control | Before publishing, the nomenclature was checked and updated with Catalogue of life, Tropicos database and/or IPNI, we used the OpenRefine tool as well to clean the data |
